ICE SERVICES, INC. Electrician Journeyman in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

Hours per day: 11.5 or as assigned

Rotation: 3x3 or as assigned

Reports to: Electrical Supervisor

Purpose of Position:

Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completed related studies program preferred, not required.

Experience and Background:

  • Two years of electrical maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in remote arctic environment preferred.
  • Skills in locating and correcting defects in electrical systems, components and equipment.
  • Team player with good customer service, communication skills and very safe work ethics.
  • Must be able to read and interpret instructions and manuals.
  • Have a commitment to excellence - identify what needs to be done and take action to achieve a standard of excellence beyond job expectations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments, prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written), able to follow instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to strict policy and procedures per company HSE program and OSHA requirements.

Certificates, Licenses and Requirements:

  • State of Alaska Electrical Journeyman Certificate of Fitness
  • Valid Driver License that meets ICE Services insurance criteria for driving.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) Card - preferred, not required.
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug test, breath alcohol test, occupational fitness test, criminal background check and computer-based testing.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to lift and carry 65 pounds on regular basis, routine walking, standing, bending. There is a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services.
  • Rotational schedule of at least 11.50 hours per day for a minimum of 21 days consecutively as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems as assigned.
  • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
  • Check and maintain fire alarms in facilities and buildings.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors.
  • Observe safety standards and regulations.
  • Attend training to maintain and/or improve certifications and skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
