Operations PR Coordinator

Do you want to work in strategic communications in a dynamic setting? This job is ideal for an individual who wants PR agency experience in a university setting. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented and self-driven individual to coordinate strategy, work with clients and manage the External Relations day-to-day operations. 

What you'll do in this position:

  • Assist in implementing the college's strategic communications for campaigns

  • Assist in recruitment, experiential and inspiring learning of External Relations team

  • Assist in developing and carrying out strategies to promote events, performances and units within the college (contests/campaigns)

  • Assist the Assistant Dean in developing coordination, communication and information processes between the college and its academic units

  • Supervise student employees in the External Relations office

  • Assist with managing and messaging for communication to key publics of the college

  • Assist the admin, social, editorial, web and photo/design teams

What qualifies you for this role: 

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Education and/or Experience 

  • Related Experience 

Preferred

  • Management experience 

  • Project management skills

  • Excellent time management

  • History of meeting deadlines

  • Well-developed organizational, communication, and writing skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization

  • Ability to work well with others and feel comfortable speaking in front of a group

  • Knowledge of AP style

  • Proficient in database and spreadsheet software use (Word, Excel, Google Drive)

  • Experience with design programs, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Experience working with email newsletter programs, specifically MailChimp

  • Longevity preferred - commitment of at least two semesters (8-12 months)

Skills, abilities, knowledge:

  • Public relations writing experience

  • Experience creating graphics/images for social media posts

Hours: 20 hours a week | Note: Our office is open 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and all students are required to choose work hours within the 9am-5pm time frame each day (Monday-Friday)

Pay rate: Depends on Experience

Company Name and Brief Description: The award-winning College of Fine Arts and Communications' External Relations team promotes awards and achievements, all of the event press releases, assists in arts promotion for the performing arts, creates and supports all websites, works on campaigns relating to the college and university and assists the college's dean. The team also manages and oversees the college's social media pages, as well as the School of Communications, Department of Dance, Department of Theatre and Media Arts and the School of Music social media accounts.
