The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.

The Opportunity:
Under general guidance and direction of Maintenance Supervisor, performs journey-level skilled installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various electrical systems, controls, and equipment located in Utah County facilities and grounds.
Grade:
Electrician II - 723
Electrician I - 721
Starting Pay:
723 - $27.97 - $32.14 per hour
721 - $24.34 - $27.97
Schedule
Standard Schedule - Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., but may vary at times
Job Qualifications- Electrician II:
Associate degree or a certificate of completion of an apprenticeship program in an electrical field.
Three (3) years journey-level work experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
Must be able to qualify to test and pass the Utah Journeyman License exam within the first six (6) months of employment.
Possession of a Journeyman Electrical License issued by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) will be considered equivalent to the combined education and experience requirement.
Job Qualifications- Electrician I:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of work experience in the electrical trade or currently enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship program or an associate degree in a related field.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and obtain a valid State of Utah driver's license within sixty (60) days of employment.
Selected applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Selected applicants must obtain the following certification during the pro bationary period for new hires or trial period for promoted County employees and must maintain certifications during employment:
a. Forklift certification
b. CPR certification
c. Complete a defensive driving course
d. Confined Space Training
e. Trench Safety Course
f. Must obtain required twelve (12) hours of electrical continuing education each year to meet Utah state regulations for license renewal.
g. Complete two (2) or more of the following classes/certifications:
i. State of Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
ii. Access Control Infrastructure Network (INET)
iii. Fire Ala m System Tech
iv. Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Tech
v. Commercial kitchen equipment certifications
vi. Commercial laundry equipment certifications
vii. Bucket truck operator training
viii. Other applicable job certifications as approved or required by supervisor and/or Division Manager
Other applicable job certifications as approved or required by supervisor and/or Division Manager County employees must possess the above certifications and licenses prior to moving into this classification through reassignment, reclassification, or transfer. Selected applicants or incumbents may be required to obtain additional certifications, as directed.
Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience working with building access control systems. Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with fire alarm systems. 3. Preference may be given to applicants with commercial laundry and or commercial kitchen maintenance experience.
