COMMUNITY ACTION SERVICES, INC. Circles Youth Coach in PROVO, Utah

Position Summary: 

Community Action Services and Food Bank (CASFB) is dedicated to fostering self-reliance in individuals, families, and the community. The Circles Chapter assists families in stabilizing their living conditions so that self-reliance skills can take root and grow, enabling families to exit poverty. The Circles Chapter Coach of Provo is part of the Circles team and reports to the Circles Utah Valley Coordinator. Office work for this position is completed at Community Action Services and Food Bank at 815 S. Freedom Blvd, Provo, but travel is required to and from weekly Circles meetings each Wednesday evening in Provo.  

 

Responsibilities: 

The Circles Youth Coach is a key resource builder, broker, and recruiter of the Circles Initiative (www.CirclesUSA.org). Circles Utah Valley is a crucial component of the Community Action Services and Food Bank's mission to end poverty. The underlying foundation of Circles is to engage people and organizations in the community to move individuals and families permanently out of poverty. This is a community-based initiative that creates relationships across economic class lines, matching people of low income (Circle Leaders) with middle- or upper-income volunteers (Allies). The Circles Coach ensures those relationships thrive and that Circle Leaders have access to resources so they continue to progress. The Coach's primary role is to work inwardly with Circle Leaders and Allies. In addition, the coach is also responsible for providing ongoing support to the chapter's Resource Teams. The coach will oversee the continual progress of Circle Leaders and their Allies, facilitate weekly Circles meetings

The Circles Utah Valley Coach of Provo will perform the following types of duties:  

  • Manage the recruiting, screening, and training of possible Circle Leaders and Allies  

  • Provide orientation and on-going support to participants and volunteers  

  • Conduct intake interviews and strengths-based assessments for all Circles Members  

  • Ensure weekly Circles meetings are organized and well-planned  

  • Maintain current knowledge of social services available throughout community  

  • Collaborate with CASFB case managers and Financial Learning Center to assure Circle Leaders' progress  

  • Provide conflict resolution when needed within matched Circles   

  • Regularly attend and provide leadership in meetings with the Jobs & Education and Services Resource Teams 

  • Communicate regularly with the Community, Big View, Jobs & Education, Services, and Recruitment Teams 

  • Maintain accurate records and required reports  

  • Duties as assigned by the Circles Utah Valley Coordinator or Community Action Services to ensure success of Circles 

     

Qualifications: 

  • Two years of experience in a human servicesfield 

  • Four-year degree in Human Services or Related Field 

  • Enthusiastic, caring and energetic person a must&nb sp;

  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds; 

  • A demonstrated ability to take initiative, plan and carry out a project from beginning to end; 

  • Proficiency in MS Office software -- with ability to quickly learn new software applications; 

  • Good writing and verbal skills are essential 

  • Bi-lingual -- Spanish-speaking preferred but not required
