Looking for a new challenge ? Join the dsm-firmenich indirect procurement team as our Procurement Lead for Manufacturing Equipment & Services in the Americas. We need a seasoned professional to spearhead strategic and efficient procurement of technical materials and services. This is a key role for us. You will focus on cost optimization, manage vendor relationships, mitigate risks, and support our organization in achieving its Manufacturing Equipment & Services (ME&S) objectives while delivering maximum value.

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Equipment and Services Procurement, you will develop and implement procurement strategies in critical areas such as engineering services, construction, and maintenance services & supplies, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

Your key responsibilities

  • Oversee a team who manage procurement for 40 production sites in the US and Latin America. Collaborate with manufacturing excellence, engineering, and technical teams, especially at the site leadership level. As a people leader, responsibility for the continued development, goal setting and engagement of the team.

  • Manage a spend of approximately €170 million (Opex/Capex), with 2,000 suppliers, target mid/high single-digit savings percentage, reduce the supplier base by over 25%, and improve payment terms to best-in-class standards.

  • Partner with Global Manufacturing Excellence, Business Unit engineering, and site leadership teams to develop and implement category strategies, including risk management, aligned with the overall business roadmap and agenda.

  • Implement market solutions and continuous improvement initiatives to drive positive impacts within the company.

  • Work with the team, finance, and business units to define, animate, and monitor initiative pipelines to drive overall business value, including cost savings, growth opportunities, and cash flow improvements.

  • Drive supplier partnership excellence where meaningful, ensure compliance with internal and external policies/regulations, and secure risk management through supply continuity and preserving company reputation.

This position is eligible for the dsm-firmenich Hybrid Working model, spending 2 days per week in the Plainsboro or Belvidere, NJ office and the balance of the week in a home office that is commutable by car.

You bring

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing and leadership roles regionally and globally required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing others directly, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams

  • Strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and experience in managing vendor relationships along with the ability to influence and motivate multiple stakeholders and collaborators at all levels

  • Team-oriented, results-driven, dynamic, proactive personality with high ethical standards.

  • Financial literacy and ability to contribute to cost optimization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in procurement or a related field required; master’s degree preferred
