Weyerhaeuser is seeking a shift Production Shift Supervisor for the Princeton Lumber mill located in Princeton, BC.

TheProduction Supervisoris a full-time, exempt position reporting into a production manager. The role is a front-line supervisor responsible for the safety, production, and quality goals of a production team for whom the supervisor plans, leads, and directs the daily activities.

*Key Functions: *

The Production Supervisor is expected to be a role model in our safety standards and on-the-job behaviour by living our core values of Integrity, Citzenship, Sustainability and Inclusion. Principles of integrity, fairness, creating a positive and inclusive work environment and ensuring open communication among leaders and employees are key to success of this role. Accountabilities include ensuring compliance with all applicable Weyerhaeuser federal, provincial and local laws and regulations. The selected applicant must be committed to leading continuous improvement in safety, reliability, cost management, process improvement, production flows, staffing and housekeeping.

The role is responsible for:**

  • Ensuring the safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Role modeling safe work practices and facilitating team meetings & trainings with assigned teams
  • Providing daily leadership and oversight of hourly union production employees, ensuring proper job and safety rules are understood and followed.
  • Identifying safety, environmental, quality & productions issues and incident investigation and follow-up when incidents occur
  • Meeting production standards and goals
  • On the floor leadership and supervision of a production team of approximately 15-20 employees in a lumber manufacturing facility.
  • Developing and training employees, including pro-active feedback, coaching and mentoring, and performance management.
  • Supporting the improvement of key performance indicators and continuous improvement of operational functions through exposure to metrics, reliability and process control. Actively seek opportunities to demonstrate individual and team contributions.

  • High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution

  • Minimum of five years management, supervisory or lead experience
  • Preferred: strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Preferred: industry experience within wood products, ideally lumber
  • Strong leadership skills that include the proven ability to coach employees to a higher level of performance
  • Willingness and ability to participate in safety initiatives, including exhibiting safe work practices and helping others to work safely
  • Demonstrated experience as a results-focused problem solver with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent team building,, problem solving, decision-making, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in and lead diverse teams
  • Track record of consistently demonstrating collaborative and inclusive leadership skills as well as positive influence, with accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, quality productivity and people development
  • Ability to provider innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and eliminate unscheduled downtime
  • Must be computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office (email, word, excel) and ability to learn new programs
  • Must be able to meet physical job requirements, including walking, stairs, ability to work in extreme weather and at heights when conditions warrant
  • Must be willing to work shifts, may require weekends(Rotating shift: two weeks of days, two weeks of afternoons. Monday to Thursday, 10 hour shifts)

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $86,500 - $125,600 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
