Overview The Mentoring At-Risk Youth Program Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and matching volunteer mentors with referred youth. Additionally, the coordinator will organize and oversee meaningful family and youth engagement through monthly activities and service-learning projects. This role also includes monitoring mentoring matches and facilitating group mentoring activities, 4-H afterschool clubs, and Family Night Out events.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit local middle-school youth to participate in the program.
  • Recruit, screen, and train volunteer mentors.
  • Match youth with mentors in group mentoring settings.
  • Monitor and support mentoring matches.
  • Assist in planning and executing monthly Family Night Out activities and group mentoring events.
  • Lead a 4-H Afterschool club once per week.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years experience working with youth/teens. (Experience with 4-H helpful, but not required).
  • Experience in recruiting, supervising, and working with youth.
  • Basic computer skills - Word, Excel, Internet.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Punctual, must attend all required programs, meetings, and events.
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership and program implementation experience in youth programming.

  • Skills in social media promotion and other forms of online marketing and relationship-building.
  • Background and skill in data use and/or collection. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead group planning, discussions, and public presentations.
  • Ability to set, track, and accomplish realistic goals within a strict timeline.

Advertised Salary $15.00 per hour

ADA Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
