- Perform tasks related to heavy equipment operation such as production loading haul units, grading, pipeline work, hammering, GPS grading, cut to fill, and more
- Work on a pipe crew and act as a laborer when necessary
- Conduct daily equipment safety and pre-check inspections
- Maintain and care for equipment, including fluid level checks before starting
- Understand and interpret grade stakes
- Perform tasks related to the cut and fill process
- Load trucks, scarify material, excavate V ditches, and finish grade projects for asphalt, curb/gutter
- Possess basic math skills for measuring yards, tons, and stockpiles
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner
- Load and unload equipment and materials
- Provide innovative solutions to improve efficiency
- Conduct occasional routine preventive maintenance
- Log, record, or report critical readings or issues with equipment
