The Application Identities Platform Team is part of the Microsoft Entra organization (formerly called Azure Active Directory), which provides the Identity and access management platform for Microsoft 365, Azure, and many software companies to help them create cloud services that are resilient, scalable, and secure. Our team helps developers create identities for their applications that allows them to access resources securely, and at the same time providing administrators and end users with tools and features that help them make informed and safe decisions when they need to share their data with applications.

Responsibilities

Our team is focusing on enhancing our Application Identities platform in dimensions such as ease of management, developer experience, permission model and large-scale adoption. We are looking for a Principal Engineer Manager that can help us with the challenging task of delivering new capabilities and enhancing existing ones in this highly complex area.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage, coach and mentor engineers, build a high-performing engineering team.

• Develop and maintain a wide and deep knowledge of our platform and the space, recognize problems, Identity opportunities, design solutions.

• Work closely with customers and partners to understand their requirements and scenarios, and effectively lead towards delivering the necessary solutions.

• Define a direction for your team to deliver such solutions and adjust and change course as needed when facing challenges.

• Collaborate with other engineers, program managers, and designers across the Entra organization and beyond to deliver end-to-end experiences that delight our customers and users.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Senior level software engineering experience

• Relevant experience in managing software engineers as well as developing highly effective engineering teams.

• Experience in architecting and designing complex software systems or services.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and ability to drive changes across multiple organizations.

• Experience of developing and managing requirements, resources, schedules and making data-driven decisions.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Experience in your career history as a hands-on engineer working with distributed systems.

• Deep practical experience operating high-scale services in production environments.

• Prior experience working in the Identity and/or Security domains.
