SUMMARY:
To accurately maintain and update filing/scanning for patient medical records. To assist with correspondence requests, assisting with gathering information needed.

STATUS: Full-Time
LOCATION: Canton-Potsdam Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management
SCHEDULE: 7.5hr; Days
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Operate computer, scanner and/or fax/copier to process, store and retrieve health information.
- Retrieve, sort and assemble medical records; scan and index documentation into the EMR.
- Analyze and evaluate medical records for accuracy and completeness utilizing chart completion routines to assign deficiencies as necessary.
- Follow up on missing reports.
- Assist providers with completion of deficiencies.
- Assist hospital staff with questions or concerns with medical records.
- Maintain patient confidence by keeping patient record information confidential and secure.
- Accurately and timely process correspondence requests per facility policy, HIPAA and New York State guidelines.
- Provide timely customer service in a pleasant and professional manner in person, over the phone and electronically.
Desired Attributes:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Minimum 6 months in a medical records department preferred
- Medical terminology preferred
- Keyboarding skills with previous computer knowledge to include ability to operate a scanner and printer, copy machine and fax preferred.
PAY RANGE: $17.11 - $23.60
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
