Job Title: Shipfitter

Job Description

As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames. You will align these parts in relation to each other within the hull of the ship for riveting or welding. This involves working from blueprints or templates, using scribes and hand tools, and marking reference lines. Furthermore, you will be required to install packing, gaskets, liners, structural accessories, and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips. Preparing molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts may also be part of your responsibilities. Tack welding clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding, rolling, bending, flanging, cutting, and shaping plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts may also be required.

Work Environment

This role requires clearance to work at Naval bases (DBIDS).
