To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. Responsibilities
As a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will define MFG test methodologies to support the verification of product functionalities following the assembly process of Printed Circuit Board Assembly / PCBAs, storage enclosures, and racked assemblies within the ODM & System Integrators & Contract Manufacturer sites. Ownership may span across both NPI and sustaining phases. Regular may include:
Develop and sustain test hardware & software. Define a robust Mfg test framework to ensure product quality by driving highest test coverage according to the hardware development spec.
Work with board engineering and other cross-functional teams to define design for tests for thermal-mechanical solutions from chip to system level.
Leads the development of test hardware and software/firmware to support the Thermal validation of thermal-mechanical hardware at chip, card and system level.
Provide expertise judgement on Mfg test readiness before every NPI build start, including test hardware, software, or firmware perspectives. Steer through the identified risks with timely risk assessments and mitigations to internal/external partners.
Drive test optimization to increase manufacturing throughput and reduce the cost without compromising product quality.
Develop a stable and efficient core test content/script and deploy the test solutions for blade and rack level systems. Able to read/write test script or source code comfortably or even onsite debugging agilely.
Follow Mfg Test Engineering team preferred framework and process to release and maintain our core test content/script. A comprehensive validation or regression test is expected prior to the release.
Work on root cause remediation with regards to systemic hardware and firmware issues found during manufacturing tests.
Interface with internal reliability and qualification teams to drive parity between test coverage from reliability and qualification to manufacturing.
Monitor production yield data regularly and deep dive test related issues with a systematic approach for resolution or improvement. Meanwhile, implementing continuous test enhancements to improve quality.
Realize CM/ODM capacity and capability constraints against forecast; Collaborate across each functional team to ensure continuity of supply.
Develop and maintain documentation on processes or procedures.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 4+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 3+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience\
OR Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field
OR equivalent experience.
4+ experience leading functional test development projects in CPU or GPU test tool development from incubation to actualization and incorporating them into manufacturing test flows.
2+ years of experience with data center/Test Lab

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications:
Understanding the design and manufacturing process at the PCBA and enclosure level is a plus.
Knowledge of rack level test framework and methodologies.
Knowledgeable about SW development flow and proficiency on any kind of source code control tool
Ability to navigate through ambiguities and concepts and realize it to practical process or flows.
Familiar with Azure DevOps Services, Business Intelligence tools, or Power Automate tools is a plus.
Familiar with CPU or GPU test tools, direct experience in incorporating them into manufacturing flows.
FW/BIOS coding experience
Driver development experience, Linux or Windows drivers.
Software development engineer experience in SQL, C#, C++, Rust, or Python
Proficient in Python scripting programming.
Familiar with Linux operating system. Able to read/write script or issue commands upon Linux.
Familiar with CPU or GPU test tool development, direct experience in incorporating them into manufacturing test flows.
Knowledge of rack level test framework and methodologies is as needed.
Manufacturing Test Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
