Harder Mechanical Contractors Payroll Specialist in Portland, Oregon

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be working at one of the nation’s largest mechanical contractors with an outstanding reputation for working safely, meeting tough schedules, and delivering quality projects. This position will work directly with an established payroll team to process high volume weekly payroll for employees in multiple states using Vista software. This is a full-cycle, multi-state payroll position. This position is based out of our headquarters in Portland, OR and is not eligible for remote work.

Payroll Specialists at Harder perform the following daily tasks:
Assist with the processing of weekly multistate, union and non-union payroll
Maintain and update employee files (e.g. new hires, terminations, taxes, garnishments, etc.)
Data entry of timecard hours and records into payroll system
Audit payroll entries for accuracy
Process and calculate payroll deposits and checks
Respond to all payroll inquiries, both internal and external in a timely and professional manner
Maintain employee data by filing, scanning, faxing, etc.
Verify and resolve discrepancies and correct as necessary
Assist in preparing and maintaining weekly and monthly payroll reporting
Additional duties as assigned
What you will need to be successful in this role:
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite required
Self-motivated, ability to work as part of a team under minimal supervision
Ability to communicate effectively with the teammates and external contacts
Ability to establish and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with others
Education/Experience
2+ years’ experience with payroll
Prior experience working in the construction industry preferred
Vista Software experience preferred
