Amergis Dental Hygienist in Portland, Oregon
The Dental Hygienist performs as part of a dental healthteam under the supervision of a dentist. Involvement includes clinical dentalwork and education with specific responsibilities governed by the state inwhich the hygienist is employed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleans and polishes a patient’s teeth- removes plaquedeposits and stains
Applies medication for the prevention of tooth decay
Takes and develop x-rays
Makes model impressions of teeth for study or dental devices
Obtains medical and dental histories and records informationin the patient’s dental record
Provides instruction for patient self-care, diet, andnutrition
Placement of sealant or cavity preventative agents such asfluorides
Placement of temporary fillings and periodontal dressings
Smoothing and polishing silver amalgam restorations
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered License for the state in whichpracticing.
A minimum of one year experience as a Dental HygienistPreferred.
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
