    About The Job

    Dudek is seeking early-career to mid-level professionals to provide as-needed biological surveys and environmental construction compliance services. This position will be based at project sites within Dudek’s service areas. Candidate would have demonstrated expertise in a specific environmental resource area including but not limited to biological and aquatic resources, storm water, hazardous materials, air emissions, noise monitoring, etc.

    Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal Dudek staff, construction personnel and regulatory personnel to develop solutions while implementing permit conditions.

  • Work with construction crews and environmental resource leads to document compliance levels related to environmental regulations.

  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of environmental exclusion fencing, wildlife fencing, sediment and erosion control devices and material and waste management.

  • Record and take notes of any observations on a Dudek platform to be used for reporting purposes.

  • Follow all Dudek and construction site safety protocols.

  • Ability to travel to Project sites located in all Dudek service areas.

  • Comfortable with hiking long distances in potentially inclement weather/heat and rough terrain.

  • Posses a high level of attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Strong oral communication skills.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or other related field; OR a minimum of 1-3 years demonstrated field experience in biological resource management and surveying and/or construction compliance monitoring.

  • Must have the ability to be insured to drive a vehicle and/or current auto-insurance.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.

    • As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.

  • Possess sound judgement and able to “think-on-your-feet”.

  • Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.

  • Previous experience working within construction sites, including monitoring and inspection experience.

  • Understanding of environmental regulations.

  • Qualified biologist to survey and monitor for special-status wildlife and plant species, including for nesting birds.

  • Has experience executing species-specific regulatory protocols.

  • Holds special-status species permit and/or certification(s).

  • Has experience capturing and handling freshwater fish.

  • Has experience identifying common and rare plant species and/or using dichotomous keys to identify plants.

    Physical Requirements

    Working Conditions:

  • This job requires project site visits which are based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

    Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

  • This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.

  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.

    Proposed Salary Range: $25-$40 hourly*

    *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
