Job Overview

As a key member of our Commercial Projects division, you will join other experienced employee-owners in building some of Maine’s most recognizable buildings in our varied commercial portfolio which includes projects in housing, hospitality, higher education, healthcare, and other commercial spaces.

The Superintendent plays an essential role in ensuring uninterrupted forward progress of each construction project by providing onsite management of all labor, materials, equipment, safety, security, and subcontractors at job sites. You will establish and maintain sound relationships with owners and strategic partners such as architects and subcontractors and pro-actively address issues as they arise. The Superintendent will partner with a Project Manager forming a well-coordinated building effort.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum eight years of related field experience in a construction management or supervisory role with experience managing projects ranging from $3 to $25 million (or as an assistant on larger projects).

  • Knowledge of the full construction process from ground-breaking to completion.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to lead and manage complex projects from start to finish with excellent attention to detail while working under pressure of deadlines.

  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, plans, and specifications to provide information to project/team members.

  • Ability to anticipate construction process issues and problems to keep the overall schedule of the project on track.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize scheduled work under pressure of deadlines.

  • Ability to lead and motivate project/team members and subcontractors.

  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local regulations such as building codes, OSHA requirements, and other construction safety standards.

  • Knowledge and experience with construction software and technology (ProCore, Sage Timberline, Microsoft Suite, and MS Project preferred).
