Work Schedule: Variable

Program begins June 24th and CASAS reading assessments are required. Applicants will be contacted with information and dates.

Classes will be held on M/W/F with clinical on T/Th

Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Trainee assists the clinical nurse in carrying out direct and indirect patient care activities according to the defined plan of care. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA performs selected nursing care activities as assigned by and, according to established policies, procedures, and standards of the Division of Patient Care Services. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position and conducts all job responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends and participates in all training required of the CNA trainee.

  • Performs and functions under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Adheres to policies as well as the philosophy, vision, mission and values of the patient Care Services Division.

  • Documents and performs patient care in accordance with established standards.

  • Demonstrates punctuality and scheduling flexibility.

  • Presents a professional image.

  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and coworkers.

  • Utilizes equipment and supplies effectively and in a fiscally responsible manner, reports malfunctions according to procedure.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients and staff.

  • Communicates pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team.

  • Maintain infection control standards by adhering to standard transmission-based precautions and practicing hand hygiene.
