The Head Baseball Coach/Lecturer is responsible for the overall organization, administration, and development of USM’s Division III Intercollegiate baseball program—a program that has earned national recognition as a top tier Division III program.

The Head Coach will work to create a positive culture, provide leadership and guidance to team members and create an environment where student-athletes are challenged, supported, and can experience success while growing as individuals. The Head Coach will direct all practice sessions, coach all games, travel with the team, develop an effective recruitment and retention program, and maintain appropriate standards for the program. In addition, this position will attend and contribute at department meetings, support departmental and institutional initiatives, work to support student success, be involved in community service, build alumni and community relationships and outreach activities, conduct fundraising activities as approved by departmental administration and will be focused on student satisfaction, customer service, and take part in annual program review. The Head Coach will represent the department and institution at university, state, regional and national conferences and meetings. As a Lecturer, the Head Coach will teach within the Athletic Coaching minor academic program.

This is a full-time, ongoing 10-month (mid-August through mid-June) position with a two-year renewable contract and an annual salary of $53,420. This position is located on our Gorham Campus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis on teaching/coaching/leadership.

  • Minimum of three years of experience as an assistant or head baseball coach.

  • Experience working with student-athletes in a team setting.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student development.

  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to student-athletes.
