Job Overview

Wright-Ryan is currently seeking full-time, experienced Field Carpenters to join our Field Operations team. This position works under the supervision of a lead person, foreman, or superintendent and supports team efforts to meet production commitments through the efficient and effective completion of all basic field carpentry activities. Our valued carpenters are part of a career ladder so if you are interested in advancement this may be the position for you. Carpenters who demonstrate sound carpentry, leadership and technology skills have the potential to move into a Lead Carpenter position and eventually to Foreman as volume of work and projects permit.

An essential craft position for Wright-Ryan, the Field Carpenter plays a key role in helping us achieve our profit goals. This position requires an all-around skilled individual who is familiar with a wide variety of building materials (primarily wood), has a general knowledge of basic fasteners and fastening systems, as well as framing and blocking. In addition, this individual works with concrete under the direction of an experienced concrete lead. Our Carpenters work on both commercial projects where accuracy and production speed are key and custom homes where productivity and finish quality are essential. Staff are expected to follow our customer service standards and practice collaboration to ensure the success of the crew as a whole.

Job Requirements

  • Reliably available 40 hours, good transportation, punctual

  • Solid work history

  • Experience with a wide variety of construction materials and fastening systems and jobsite activities

  • Ability to read plans and identify problems

  • Knowledge of the construction process and carpentry’s role

  • Awareness of how carpentry integrates with trades subcontractors

  • Strong verbal skills and focus on teamwork to ensure the crew’s success

  • Good organizational skills and attention to pace and accuracy

  • Ability to retrieve email for company announcements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Five (5) years of experience in general carpentry
