THE POSITION Are you someone who loves being outside and working with your hands? If so, the Moraine State Park Complex has a great opportunity for you. We are currently seeking a Semi-Skilled Laborer to help maintain and improve our park facilities. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to contribute to the safe and enjoyable experience of our park visitors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK At Moraine State Park Complex, you will be responsible for performing semi-skilled manual work in construction and maintenance. This includes repairing buildings and facilities using a variety of tools from different trades such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and more. Additionally, you will be involved in maintaining and operating vehicles and equipment within the park. Your tasks will also include constructing cement forms, mixing and placing cement, using mason tools to finish cement, and building stone and block walls. Ground maintenance duties will involve tasks like mowing, weed cutting, litter collection, material movement, drain cleaning, and more. Furthermore, you will be responsible for preparing sites, seeding new turf areas, planting trees and shrubs, painting or staining park structures, and performing general housekeeping and maintenance tasks. Your role will also include making minor repairs, ensuring the safe use of equipment and tools, and providing friendly assistance and information to park visitors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from March through November.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
