We are currently seeking a R&D Staff Software Test Engineer located in Kalamazoo, Michigan

What You Will Do

As a R&D Staff Software Test Engineer , you will create verification plans and test procedures to support testing of medical devices for use by Orthopedic Surgeons to allow them to plan and perform their procedures. This role will be a key contributor to the software development process of medical devices that supports our computer assisted and robotic product lines.

  • You will develop procedures and scripts for requirements-based testing of medical devices in accordance with internal software development lifecycle requirements in compliance with FDA software development guidance.

  • You will work directly with technical leadership and own sub-systems with responsibility of breaking down work, scheduling, risks, and project updates.

  • You will interact with internal and external customers to support determining requirements and validation of requirements.

  • You will work cross functionally with multiple technical experts and internal/external training to further develop SW testing skills and understanding of the medical procedures your products will be used in.

  • As an active member of the software community within Stryker, you will participate in the greater Stryker software community to continually improve the way we work.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 4+ years related experience required.

  • C and/or C++ required.

  • Knowledge in embedded system design required.

What We Would Love That you Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with verifying and validating software products in an FDA or other regulated industry highly preferred.

  • Familiar with concepts of design input, design output, traceability, and risk analysis highly preferred.

  • Background in control systems desired.

  • Experience with scripting language such as Python is preferred.

  • Knowledge of test systems such as TestStand, CI framework/tools is preferred.

  • Strong aptitude and interest in system and software testing.
