KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Instrument & Control Lead Technician to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tonnes per year. The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans. This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.

Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

This position is contingent upon having a current/valid TWIC card or having the ability to renew or obtain a TWIC card. The TWIC card must be kept current and maintained through employment.

The Instrument & Control Lead Technician will supervise and technically assist a team of field I&C technicians. This role will instruct & direct Instrument technicians to accomplish loop checks required to handover the various systems and sub-systems for the project to enable Substantial Completion / RFSU, including to ensure that Co-Console electronic completions system is correctly completed, and that the client approve sign-off. The Instrument & Control Lead Technician will report to the Area Supervisor.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the testing of safety related control systems, including Fire & Gas, FACPs, ESD, SIL and SIF Loops

  • Cause and Effect testing will form part of this requirement

  • Participate in completion system walkdowns on site with a multi-disciplined team

  • Coordinate planning and participate in regular progress and co-ordination meetings with site teams and project management

  • Follow-up for the effective sign-off of field generated punch lists as directed

  • Assist with daily risk assessments and permit to work systems for all site-based Pre-Commissioning and CSU activities

Experience & Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of instrumentation systems, field instruments and the ability to read and decipher P&IDs

  • Experience with large ICS Systems such as Honeywell or Yokogawa required

  • Proficient level of knowledge of calibration equipment

  • Proven ability to use and work with electronic completion system such as CoConsole or WinPCS and advantage

  • Hands on experience with Hazardous Area regulations (EExd, Exia, EExe) when dealing with instrumentation systems

Additional Qualifications:

  • In lieu of formal education 8 + years of directly related field experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

  • 5 + years of experience within the Oil & Gas or Chemical industry is required
