Indorama Ventures Process Design Engineer in Port Neches, Texas

Job Description :

Indorama Ventures is currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Process Design Engineer at our Port Neches, TX or Remote or any Indovinya location. In this role, you will provide process analysis and design for Indovinya’s olefin, oxides, oxide derivatives, and specialty chemical manufacturing units. Activities include identifying, defining, justifying, and implementing capital and non-capital improvement projects improving operational effectiveness and meeting business objectives. In addition, this role participates in unit problem troubleshooting, process hazard analysis and other process analysis support of operating units. This role also supports Technology Licensing activities.

What will be expected from you?

  • The preferred candidate will acquire, develop, and practice Chemical Engineering design skills. The role will have collaborated with other process design experts and will work independently as process analysis and design capabilities allow.

  • Promotes Safety and safe behaviors by actively engaging in Personal Safety programs and Process Safety Management activities.

  • Participates in reviews related to process design including Design Package reviews, Hazard, and Operability studies (HAZOP), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Incident Investigations, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).

  • Develops personal capabilities in a broad set of process engineering tools including process simulation, heat transfer design, fluid dynamics analysis, distillation/separation design and other related process engineering design tools.

  • Works on developing improvement concepts and preparing feasibility studies including high level project scoping and economic analysis. Provide process engineering design through Front End Loading stages 1,2 & 3.

  • Completes Process Design Packages to support process improvements which includes PFD and P&ID development, equipment and instrumentation process spec sheets and preliminary Process control strategies.

  • Effectively completes the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) activities and follows the Project Implementation Process.

  • Functions as process design engineer on licensing and capital projects developing PFDs, P&IDs, and multiple design data sheets for a variety of process equipment and processes.

  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred. Degrees in other engineering or related disciplines will be considered with relevant experience.

  • Advanced degrees are a plus.

  • 2-15 years’ experience.

  • 2 years’ operating experience in a chemical or similar process is preferred.

  • Operational experience with Ethylene, Ethylene Oxide or their derivatives is preferred.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.

  • Fluent in current version of Aspen Plus or equivalent simulation software is a plus.

  • Proficiency in several Chemical Engineering sub-disciplines (fluid flow, heat transfer, distillation/separations, process control, modeling, reaction engineering) is a plus.

  • Analytical thinker with conceptual understanding and ability of applying experience and knowledge to identify best solutions.

  • Knowledge of sound engineering practices.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Internet, E-mail, and other technical or business relevant applications.
