POSTIONS TO START AFTER GRADUATION - MAY 2025
Position Summary:
Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Hospital. Under the direct supervision of the RN preceptor, provides direct care to assigned patients on assigned nursing unit utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating behaviors that support McLaren Port Huron Values.
This is a temporary job class utilized for the time period between graduation from an ADN or BSN program, and first attempt at the RN licensure examination. Upon receipt of licensure examination results, the Graduate Nurse moves into a RN position on the unit hired.
Responsibilities:
Supports the mission and vision of McLaren Port Huron through behaviors that reflect and integrate our values, as evidenced by observation, peer and customer feedback
Under the direction of the RN Preceptor, assesses and documents the patient’s physical and psycho-social needs and strengths in a comprehensive manner
Under the direction of the RN preceptor, plans patient care in collaboration with the patient, family/S.O., as well as other healthcare members
Under the direction of the RN preceptor, implements patient’s plan of care
Under the direction of the RN preceptor, evaluates the outcome of patient care including age-specific needs for the assigned patients
Under the direction of the RN preceptor, develops, implements, and evaluates teaching plans according to individual and group needs.
Demonstrates organizational skills required for optimum patient care and efficient operation of assigned unit.
Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and development
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of ADN program or BSN program Spring 2025
Eligible to take examination (first time) for the RN license in the State of Michigan (
)
Nursing skills as defined in the law governing the practice of nursing in the State of Michigan

- ) Licensure NCLEX is to be taken ASAP. Results are required within 60 days
If RN Licensure is not obtained, a decision is made by respective Director in consultation with HR whether to transfer RN to Nurse Intern status pending re-writing and second results (approximately 3 months) or terminate.
Nurse Intern position would be temporary.
Nurse Intern position would be maximum of 3 months.
Failure to obtain licensure on second attempt would require employee to apply for and be accepted into another position within 30 days or employment is terminated.
