ELS, Inc. NATO SEA SPARROW NSSMS (MK57) Technician/Systems Engineer III in Port Hueneme, California

This position is specially regarding the NATO SEASPARROW Surface Missile System (NSSMS) Mk 57.  The Mk 57 NATO SEASPARROW is a medium-range, rapid-reaction, missile weapon system that provides the capability of destroying hostile aircraft, anti-ship missiles, and airborne and surface missile platforms with surface-to-air missiles.

 

Position Description:

 

a. Conducts research and comprehensive design studies into development, acquisition and/or in-service engineering for assigned equipment.  The employee evaluates performance specifically related to hardware reliability, operation, performance and/or maintainability problems, as well as proposed design changes, advanced development changes or system improvements which were not specifically identified but could result in changes to the system.  Incumbents must utilize knowledge of research and developmental activities and technological advances to incorporate them into the assigned projects.  Routinely applies reliability and maintainability techniques during design studies, such as: Failure modes and effects analysis, stress analysis, fault tree analysis, and reliability modeling for trade off evaluations.  The approaches and procedures adapted or developed are used by others in similar situations.  Reports are generated which identify the findings including the thorough evaluation of the various alternatives considered and the reason for the recommendation which could be in the form of ECPs, MRCs, ORDALTs, TRS’s or other associated documentation. 

b. Individual prepares, modifies, reviews, and updates technical documentation relative to all phases of lifecycle support.  He/she prepares analytical evaluations and/or reviews on proposed or existing technical documentation for assigned equipment.  The documentation may include development, interface or end item specifications, test requirements and plans, production drawings, operating manuals, etc.   Utilizes knowledge of assigned equipment’s and associated systems and equipment’s to review the documentation for technical accuracy and adequacy.  The technician will determine compliance with regulation of Navy instructions and specifications. 

c. Will provide technical evaluation of and solution to fleet problems.  This includes reviewing problems reported in messages, CASREPs, Feedback Reports or other means; researching the NAVSEA Readiness Data Base; and developing solutions and evaluating the corrective action to the reported problems.  Products associated with these solutions include the development of interim modifications, technical bulletins, messages, ECPs, or test plans.  Generates individual or group reports associated with these problems and provides oral or written information to the appropriate Code within the E60 Division.      

d. Provide technical consultative information, maintain knowledge on design, configuration, and problems of the system.  Maintains contact with design agent and the technical community.  Keeps informed of relevant technical information and hardware/software upgrades for MK9 TIS and MK29 GMLS. Provides technical information in support of the following functions: configuration management, data design (drawings, specs.), logistics support (APLs, TRS), technical manuals (TMDR, etc....).  Provides technical consultative services to all levels of the technical community.  

 

Education/Certification Requirements:

 

• 5 years as a Fire Control Technician (NEC V31A) with experience in MK 57 NSSMS Mod 12 – 15.

• 4 Years of shipboard experience

• Must possess a secret clearance

• Experience in leading technical teams in troubleshooting and integration testing. 

• Communication skills in briefing at all levels of the organization and be able to work with and foster a strong team environment.

• Analytical skills to effectively track, manage, and status multiple technical issues. 

• Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.  

• Must have strong organizational and time management skills.

Work Status: Full Time

Travel: 10%

Salary: $90,000 – 97,000
