Job Description

The Lab Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day management of operations, maintenance of Lab assets, and continuous improvements of Fathomwerx on station capabilities. Lab assets include the Water Cutting Machine, Presentation Audio-Visual (A/V), Technology Demonstration and Training Environment, and other Information Technology (IT), tools, equipment, and machinery. The Lab Engineer will need to not only assist in coordinating with departments/codes across DOD but will also collaborate with private industry and academia for the innovative technological advancement focused on the maritime domain. One must maintain strategic relationships in order to connect individuals and organizations that are essential for effective transfer and transition of technology through internal and external networks.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Procure, control, and track inventory of lab consumables to ensure constant readiness.

• Procure, control, and maintain all tools, equipment, facilities, and machinery to ensure constant readiness and a safe environment.

• Maintain schedule flexibility to accommodate a variety of organizations in a quickly changing environment.

• Constantly seek and obtain relevant training on tools, equipment, safety, and operations management.

• Actively maintain awareness of industry advances on technologies applicable to lab requirements.

• Recommend technology providers to customer for introduction, demonstration, and training opportunities for PHD personnel.

• Regularly conduct training seminars for Lab users on applicable equipment for their project(s).

• Exercise effective communication and professionalism to conduct tours for DoD civilian personnel, active duty military personnel, children, academic professionals, industry members, and other Lab partners of all age groups, demographics, and organizations.

• Adapt to obstacles in a timely manner to complete a task or project

• Align with the DoN Technology Transfer (T2) Program and its relevant agreements and processes for industry and academic engagements.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.

• Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.

• Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations.

Preferred Requirements

• At least three years of experience working within government and/or defense coordinating programs of similar size in terms of work force utilization, procurement of materials and equipment, standards, and large numbers of tasks (80+/year).

• US Citizenship and a current Secret
