Burrell Behavioral Health Group Facilitator in Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Job Description:

​ The Group Activity Facilitator is responsible for assisting the Clinical Team in assigned treatment procedures. The Group Activity Facilitator is responsible for providing education and supervision to clients/patients while modeling appropriate behavior and providing a safe/therapeutic environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares and presents in approved format, educational materials to clients.

  • Provides an environment for learning and discussion that is safe, supportive, respectful, and culturally sensitive.

  • Acquires adult education training as identified and scheduled by supervisor.

  • Evaluates and communicates client participation in groups to team members.

  • Documents client attendance, level of participation, synopsis, and summary of each group facilitated.

  • Observes and maintains standards in accordance with agency policy and procedure.

  • Documents services appropriately and timely using agency approved formats in an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Documenting services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the date, actual time and setting of the service, and the individual’s response to the service.

  • Immediately reports situations, which in the reasonable judgment of the staff may indicate an immediate threat to the physical or psychological wellbeing of clients or staff immediately or as prudently possible to supervisor or other, available supervisory person.

  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups and public settings is essential.

  • This position requires excellent communication skills and an ability to facilitate education groups for adults.

  • Staff must demonstrate intellectual vigor and communication skills in the interpretation and presentation of clinical subject matter.

  • Must promote positive morale through a congenial, supportive attitude toward clients and peers.

  • Exhibits initiative, innovation and creativity resulting in improved clinical outcomes and client comprehension of issues as well as improved clinical operating efficiency of their work focus or the agency as a whole.

  • Demonstrates concern for and sensitivity to the needs of clients and staff; appears to leave a favorable and lasting influence on clients; puts forth an effort to improve self as well as to develop and recognize others; and enhances the image of their department and of the organization.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field;

OR

  • High School or General Equivalency Diploma and two (2) years responsible employment history.

  • Employees in this position may be required to apply for Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor (MAADC) credential.

  • None

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect.

  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.

  • All training requirements including Relias Learning at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.

  • Employees are required to maintain the certifications and/or licenses possessed when hired and those gained while an employee of this Agency. Any lapsed certification or license may be grounds for discipline, removal from a position, or termination of employment. A Class E Driver’s License may be required. Current certification in CPR/First Aid may be required. Must respect and maintain confidentiality of all aspects of client treatment.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
