In this job, you’ll provide oversight activities related to the gatekeeping of priority notifications related to inspection programs, including E1P2 (potentially E1P1 as well) maintenance notifications in SAP. Providing E1P2 (potentially E1P1 as well) compliance with Southern California Edison (SCE) construction, design, inspection standards and management directives, as well as assuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including those of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), General Order (GO) 95, GO 128, and GO 165. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Review, revise, and disposition SCE notifications in SAP and assess priority is appropriate for the field condition described in the problem statements, and photos provided.

  • Support the development and implementation of consistent gatekeeping methodologies and techniques to assure consistent program implementation, compliance with program requirements, as well as consistent and accurate decision-making.

  • Work collaboratively in calibration sessions to develop consistency of decision-making across all Gatekeepers to ensure alignment with SCE standards, compliance requirements, and directives.

  • Engage in quarterly review of SCE standards changes to identify potential impacts to gatekeeping process, notifications and ensure gatekeeping activities align with the latest standards.

  • Provide feedback by collecting E1P2 (potentially E1P1’s) notification strengths and weaknesses in slides or other reference material, engaging inspectors in the recurring review and discussion of issues found.

  • Engage gatekeeping leadership in recurring reviews of Gatekeeper Coding findings/reporting with inspection personnel, to help develop a collective understanding of which field conditions require a notification (and what priority to assign) across all inspection personnel, regardless of whether they are an SCE or contract inspector.

  • Stay current with Gatekeeper qualifications and gatekeeping training by participating in technical, safety, and program development training as required by Gatekeeping management.

  • Join inspectors in ride-a longs, providing guidance, insight, standard processes, answers to inspector questions, and informal feedback regarding inspections performed during the ride-along.

  • Provide recommendations when discrepancies are identified and analysis (as applicable), to the responsible vendor and SCE departments.

The essentials

  • Seven years of experience with an electric utility’s overhead and underground construction, maintenance, and inspection of assets and equipment.

  • Two years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.

  • Experience using SAP.

  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

The preferred

  • Experience with SCE inspection of electrical distribution systems.

  • Experience with Overhead Detail Inspection (ODI) program and Underground Detail Inspection (UDI) program inspection scope, E1P1 and E1P2 notification requirements.

  • Experience with SCE design and construction standards such as GO95, GO128, GO165.

  • Experience with SCE Transmission & Distribution electrical overhead line construction and maintenance programs and the related operations & maintenance manuals.

  • Experience using the CMS (Consolidated Mobile Solution) field tool.

  • Ability to effectively handle your time and results, mitigate risks and safety appropriately, develop and implement work plans, find and decipher information, and provide valuable service to SCE.

  • Experience crafting reports, providing analysis, and communicating conclusions.

  • Experience using InspectApp or InspectForce survey software.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications\: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with Power BI forms, dashboards, lists, and reports.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
