Western Montana Area VI Agency on Aging is hiring a full time Benefits Enrollment and Medicare Specialist for their Polson and Ronan offices. Starting salary range is $17-19 per hour. Western Montana Aging Services (Western Montana Area VI Agency on Aging, Inc.) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Polson, Montana with a satellite office in Ronan, Montana. Why Work Here? Our agency plans, provides and contracts for services to older Americans, persons with disabilities and Veterans within the planning and service area including the Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Sanders Counties and the Flathead Reservation, as well as Idaho and Eastern Washington. Some aspects of this position may require travel, per diem and mileage is paid. Western Montana Aging Services is seeking a full-time Benefits Enrollment and Medicare Specialist to become an integral part of our team! You will take charge of implementing the vision, mission and core values of our agency. This position is full-time and includes medical benefits package, life insurance, Medicare supplement premium reimbursement, Flexible Spending Account, sick and vacation leave. Retirement benefits after six months with zero match or vesting period. Responsibilities: -Develop a full understanding of the following programs; Information & Assistance Program, State Health Insurance Assistance Program, State Medicare Patrol and other programs operated or funded by the agency. -Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to assess their needs and eligibility for Medicare Enrollment and various government assistance programs. -Provide accurate and up-to-date information about available benefits and eligibility criteria. -Assist clients with the enrollment process, including completing application forms and gathering necessary documentation. -Navigate and interpret complex government agency websites and systems to ensure successful applications. -Maintain detailed records of client interactions and program enrollments. -Stay informed about changes in government policies and programs to provide clients with the most current information. -Collaborate with other team members and agencies to streamline the benefits enrollment process for clients. -Will attend next available state training for State Health Insurance Assistance Program and Information & Assistance (may be available online) to become a certified I&A/SHIP Technician. -Uphold the highest standards of client confidentiality and data security. -Present workshops to community organizations, business and civic groups on senior services as opportunities arise. -Basic computer proficiency to navigate various government website platforms, database systems, Microsoft 365, Internet/search engines and email, etc. Qualifications: -Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with elderly and disabled clients. -Knowledge of local resources and government assistance programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security is preferred but not required. -Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness. -Excellent organizational and time management skills. -Ability to thrive in a fast-pasted environment working independently and as part of a collaborative team. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortable presenting to groups and individuals. -Empathetic and compassionate approach to working with clients in need. -Proficiency in computer applications and the ability to navigate online systems. -Reliable vehicle for travel, Montana Drivers License, proof of insurance and a good driving record. About Western Montana Area VI Agency on Aging: The Western Montana Area VI Agency on Aging, also known as Western Montana Aging Services (WMAS) is a nonprofit organization serving and supporting older adults, people with isabilities, veterans and their families in four counties in Western Montana. WMAS also operates the Veteran Directed Care Program in North Idaho and Eastern Washington. WMAS aims to enhance the quality of life, well-being and independence of its clients by offering a range of programs and resources, such as: Information and Assistance: Providing information about available resources, services and programs for seniors, as well as assisting them in accessing these services. State Health Insurance Assistance Program: SHIP counselors are professionals who provide assistance and information to individuals regarding their health insurance options, particularly with regard to Medicare, a Federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older and certain younger individuals with disabilities. Health and Wellness Services: Promoting the physical and mental health of seniors through health assessments, exercise programs and educational workshops. Caregiver Support: Providing support and resources for family caregivers who are taking care of older relatives. Resource and Referral: Providing support and resources/referrals to other programs and resources in the community. Legal and Financial Assistance: Offering guidance on legal and financial issues relevant to older adults, such as estate planning, benefits and more. Community Engagement: Encouraging older adults to stay active and engaged in their communities through social activities and volunteering opportunities. Long-Term Care Planning: Helping seniors and their families make informed decisions about long-term care, including nursing homes and home care services. Advocacy: Representing the interests of seniors in the community and advocating for policies and programs that benefit older adults. Elder Abuse Prevention: Raising awareness of and addressing elder abuse and neglect. Additional Requirements: -Ability to pass a background check -Valid Drivers' License and Proof of Insurance
