About the Role

As a member of the Global Purchasing Organization, you will assist in the development and implementation of Purchasing Strategies according to Goals and Objectives and Commodity Roadmaps defined by the Global Commodity Director in conjunction with the Regional Commodity Lead. Regional / Divisional commodity responsibility for sourcing, sourcing decisions, negotiations and managing the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers in respect with purchasing policy, internal code of ethics, internal safety and environment rules.

To support our Global Purchasing Team in Europe we are searching for Strategic Commodity Buyer, EU (Plastics) (m/w/x) to join our team as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop successful Purchasing Strategies

  • Define of bidders list, conduct supplier negotiations, elaborate supplier recommendation for New Business Awards

  • Identify and implement savings by negotiating, resourcing, using VA/VE or new technologies, etc.

  • Be part of our escalation process by supporting the divisions in case of supplier escalations (shortages, commercial discussions, quality issues, etc.) and perform coordination activities between supplier and divisions

  • Evaluate potential of new suppliers

  • Elaborate target costing (OEM RFQ) for plastic parts in coordination with our Purchasing team

  • Identify and promote improvement on existing or new processes in Purchasing

  • Keep reporting updated of important KPIs and data

  • Conduct regular benchmarks and commercial negotiations in alignment with commodity strategy and divisions

  • Keep divisional buyers trained on commodity basics

Who we are looking for

  • 3-5 years' progressive experience in the Purchasing field preferably in an automotive / manufacturing environment

  • Previous commodity experience including but not limited to Plastics mandatory and for Resisns appreciated

  • Experience and proven success in strategic and operational purchasing of direct and indirect materials

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time

  • Excellent English skills mandatory

  • Advanced Excel skills appreciated

  • Ability to lead functionally and motivate team of divisional buyers

  • Excellent Communication skills for presenting to Top Management

  • Self-driven person who is always seeking for improvements out of the box

  • Positive attitude and ability to stay calm even in complicated situations

Your preferred qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline
