Program Summary
KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Job Summary
As a Civil Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for various civil engineering projects studies, design, specification, and services. This includes transportation systems (road, rail, airport, seaport), minor bridges, culverts, drainage, infrastructure, underground utilities, hydrology/hydraulics, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, water resources and raw water supply, tunnels, geotechnical design, structural design of up to two stories above grade and other civil engineering works. In this role you will be independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria under direct supervision, with minor adaptations and modifications.
Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct studies and develop designs for transportation systems, minor bridges, culverts, minor structures, infrastructure, and other civil engineering projects.
Provide specifications and services for facilities design, drainage, underground utilities, hydrology/hydraulics, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, water resources, raw water supply, tunnels, and geotechnical design.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Assist in the design of more significant and more complex assignments with conventional plans, designs, investigations, and surveys.
Perform advisory and consulting work as a recognized authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialized area.
Ensure job tasks are performed correctly to indirectly impact cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations.
Perform site Investigations, including Geotechnical Investigations.
Assess the worth and potential risks of projects.
Develop project drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk, and at least one type of structural design software package.
Use computer modeling software to analyze surveys and mapping data.
Ensure project designs meet legal requirements and health and safety standards and relevant regulations and legislation.
Monitor project progress and ensure it meets legal and health and safety requirements.
Assess various project’s environmental impact and potential risk.
Resolve design and development problems.
Liaise with other engineers, trades, subcontractors, consultants, and co-workers.
Assist in managing budgets and other project resources.
Attend meetings to discuss projects.
Prepare project reports for use in bids.
At times, work on-site in adverse conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of related experience.
Requires proficiency in standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
The ability to make adaptations and modifications to engineering designs is required.
Must have strong judgment and decision-making skills.
Must be experienced in the requirements of UFC and NFPA Requirements.
Requires experience in site layout, erosion control, utility design, and environmental impact assessments.
Requires experience using computer-aided design (CAD) design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk, and at least one type of structural design software package.
Use computer modeling software to analyze surveys and mapping data.
Must have proficiency in practical problem solving, particularly in the field.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess or being willing to pursue a PE (Professional Engineer) license.
Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
Experience working in support contingency efforts in austere and semi-austere environments.
Advanced degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Additional years of related experience in civil engineering projects.
Proficiency in operation of multiple Structural Design software packages.
Specialized knowledge in one or more functional areas of civil engineering.
Experience with complex engineering assignments and projects.
Experience working in support contingency efforts in austere and semi-austere environments.
Experience in LOGCAP, AFCAP, BOS, or similar projects supporting the U.S. military.
