Indian Health Service Information Technology Specialist (Customer Support) in Polacca, Arizona

Summary The position is located in the Management Information Systems at Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC). Incumbent's work involves the planning and delivery of IT Customer support services. The primary duties and responsibilities include providing Point of Care Customer Service, resolving customer related technical software and hardware problems in accordance with established policies and procedure to HHCC and surrounding field clinics. This position is located in Polacca, AZ. Responsibilities Provide customer assistance and training for all IT Systems and applications utilized at HHCC. Customer requests for assistance may be submitted via telephone, e-mail, or in person. Installs and maintains information technology equipment, network devices, and cables as required to connect computers and telephones to the local area network. Incumbent is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail. Supported hardware includes but is not limited to laptops, desktops, servers, printers, phones. Supported system types include but are not limited to Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), United Financial Management System (UFMS), and Microsoft Office. Shares responsibilities for the maintenance of location telecommunication network (VoIP), including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system. Tests, maintains, installs, modifies, relocates, checks, and services government owned, Internet Protocol (IP), digital and analog telephone equipment and circuits. Mange minor IT projects from initiation to completion. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass pre-employment examination. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS,GS-2210-05: Completed a Bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management (Must submit copy of transcripts). OR Completed a Bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution which provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above, and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks (Must submit copy of transcripts). OR Your resume must demonstrate at least (1) full year of IT experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS,GS-2210-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Assist users in resolving technical computer problems and malfunctions; proactively interacts with users to ensure proper operation of computer systems, hardware, and software. Provides technical hands-on assistance with software installations, hardware configurations, and communication networking to support daily operations and major fielding activities, provides instruction to customers on accessing data, processing, space utilization efficiencies, and program recovery techniques, consults with customers regarding potential systems or program upgrades. OR Completed (1) year of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR Superior Academic Achievement - Completed a Bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management with one of the following: (Must submit copy of transcripts). Graduated with at least an overall GPA of 2.95, or Graduated with at least a 3.45 GPA in my major or during the last two years of college; Graduated in the top third of my class; or I have been a member of a national scholastic honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval.
