LOC Performance Products, Inc Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Plymouth, Michigan
Summary Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee scope of department responsibilities and support assigned engineers with technical direction and prioritizing
Breakdown program requirements and assign tasks to department engineers along with continuous program status
Oversee planning of product tooling/fixture designs to ensure efficient production methods and maintain schedule.
Attend daily shop meetings to assist in resolving manufacturing and/or quality issues
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, work flow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing product.
Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and/or inter-department relations.
Participate as requested on process engineering requirements for customer RFQ’s. Provide direction on processing methods and verify feasibility.
Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes where needed.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by researching efficient improvements and developing proposals; includes the oversight and implementation of improved procedures and new equipment installations.
Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed to support sales, program timing or quality concerns
APQP oversite and assist in running meetings
Assist Plant Managers on plant efficiency, scrap rates, staff meetings, etc. – As needed.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, five years related engineering experience and five years related management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experiences.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
