Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assess physical status of newborn using age-appropriate knowledge.

  • Plans, evaluates, and supervises care of all patients assigned.

  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients.

  • Participates in formal and informal educational programs to improve technical skills.

  • Responsible for continued learning and application to practice.

  • Synthesizes patient care information to formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis.

  • Responsible to provide newborn and family education.

  • Work practice reflects philosophy purpose and policies of the hospital department.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and competence in care of the newborn using appropriate treatments, therapies and clinical interventions.

  • Responds to physical and psychological needs of high-risk mother/baby.

  • Maintains current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of standards of care for newborns.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Massachusetts RN license

  • Continuing Care/Special Care orNICU experience required

  • AHABLS certification required

  • NRP required

  • Willingness to cross train topost partumand well newborn required

  • Prior experience working as RN required

  • STABLE required

Recommended Requirements:

  • Experience caring for Mothers and Babies preferred
