What You’ll Do
As a Purchasing Assistant Manager, your role is pivotal in managing the procurement and purchasing processes for Direct Materials (DM), metal products, Finished Goods (FG) trading, subcontracting, and tooling. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods. Your expertise in supplier relationship management, cost-saving initiatives, and adherence to quality standards will contribute to the success of the purchasing function.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement and Sourcing:
Source suppliers for new products/projects, including identifying alternative sources for existing goods.
Follow up Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and analyze quotations before submitting them to the costing department.
Negotiation and Order Management:
Negotiate with suppliers for pricing, lead time, payment terms, and commercial conditions.
Monitor and update new projects/models to align with customer timelines and requirements.
Release necessary order quantities of Finished Goods, Subcon, etc., based on master planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
Supply Chain Monitoring:
Monitor and expedite supplier deliveries as planned to avoid any shortage of supply to customers.
Manage relationships with suppliers and conduct performance assessments for quality, delivery, service, and cost.
Cost Management and Optimization:
Implement cost-saving initiatives and productivity improvements.
Monitor and control inventory levels, safety inventory, and stock optimization.
Quality and Claim Management:
Work with Quality Assurance (QA) and related departments regarding claim issues.
Facilitate supplier development and conduct supplier audits.
Attend customer audits related to the purchasing function.
Compliance and Standards:
Follow the company’s rules and procedures professionally and ethically.
Follow requirements and actively participate in supporting activities of ISO9001:2015, IATF16949:2016, ISO14001:2015, and ISO45001:2018.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks as assigned by superiors.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in purchasing and procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to analyze and compare supplier quotations.
Familiarity with MRP systems and supply chain management principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
Knowledge of quality standards and experience in managing supplier performance.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with ISO standards and commitment to compliance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
