Your role at Clorox:
The Clorox Technical Services Group supports R&D innovation experiments, process trials and laboratory testing across the Clorox family of brands including Clorox Cleaning, Clorox Professional, Hidden Valley, Kingsford, Brita, Burt’s Bees and Fresh Step. As a Sr. Packaging Specialist, you will evaluate the performance and integrity of packaged products and will support the brand business units to ensure on-time product launch success.
The successful individual will demonstrate expertise in standard international and Clorox adapted packaging test methods, ensure compliance with internal/external test standards, and collaborate with project teams to develop new product test methods. They will operate and maintain high precision optical and mechanical measurement instruments to perform product inspections and qualifications. Additionally, this team member will master and train a cross functional R&D team on core packaging lab equipment and test methods.
In this role, you will:
Complete product testing on primary, secondary and full pallet packaging to International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) standards including feasibility screening and simulation testing for over-the-road transit, club distribution, ecom, air travel, etc.
Perform laboratory testing to supportpackaging material qualifications, root-cause failure analysis and product/material environmental stability.Maintain accurate records of test data and communicate summary results to the project team using process capability statistical analysis.
Program, operate, calibrate and maintain multiple high-precision coordinate measurement machines (CMM) for product dimensional inspections. Maintain preventative maintenance and calibration schedules, plus a small inventory of hardware, spare parts and consumables.
Utilize Gage R&R (repeatability and reproducibility) to validate existing R&D measurement tools and support Clorox manufacturing and production sites.
Master core inspection and test equipment. Create SOPs and process documents/videos to train a cross functional R&D team.Learn and keep up to date on all primary Clorox and standard international packaging test methods (HOW we test) with supported correlations to real world conditions (WHY we test).
Work with the Technical Services team and outside vendors to investigate and qualify new inspection and packaging test equipment.
Understand and follow all organization and department safety policies and procedures andidentify and implement continuous improvements and safety upgrades within the R&D test labs and Technical Services pilot plant.
What we look for:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (packaging, materials, industrial or equivalent) AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience ideally in packaging technology, QA inspection and/or plastics molding.
Hands-on experience in product, materials and packaging evaluation using analytical lab equipment and high precision measurement instrumentssuch as calipers, micrometers and optical comparators. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications for moderately complex products.Experience with Mitutoyo CMM and Cosmos a plus.
Ability to design jigs and fixtures to aid inspection and test setup. Fabrication, CAD and 3D print knowledge a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication.Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, etc.).
Ability to lift 50lbs in a safe ergonomically correct manner and ascend/descend stairs.

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
–Zone A: $62,500 - $111,300
–Zone B: $57,300 - $102,000
–Zone C: $52,100 - $92,700
