RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is accountable for managing the SNACKING & ENTERTAINING, CONVENIENT MEALS & PROTEINS, BACON, GLOBAL FLAVORS and VAM DELI verticals at Grocery Outlet Corporate. Also responsible for Deli – Fresherized, Columbus, Gatherings and FS at Retail business at Bashas, Mike Hudson and Whole Foods Service Deli. This sales territory has direct accountability for over $28MM in annual net sales. Grocery Outlet currently operates approximately 500 chain stores throughout the United States. This unique responsibility includes Grocery, Meat, Deli and Fresherized business at Grocery Outlet. Additionally covers Fresherized and Deli business at Bashas, Mike Hudson and Whole Foods. The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate the skills and abilities to think strategically and differently on how we can best serve these Retailers’ shopper with solutions on responsible brands.

  • Collaborates with their Customer Business Manager and sales strategy team to develop annual sales plans that are aligned with those of the operating units.

  • Develops and executes all verticals sales and distribution plans at each retailers’ corporate level.

  • Penetrates Category Managers and Retailer Operations Managers level of territory retailers in order to implement sales and marketing initiatives and maximize customer development.

  • Executes and communicates all verticals distribution, shelving, merchandising, & pricing (DSMP) objectives.

  • Identifies threats and opportunities in the categories that we compete in that could affect sales volume, market share, trade efficiencies and profitability to the company and communicates them to their Customer Business Manager.

  • Leverages insights to develop and deliver fact-based presentations to drive brand initiatives and results for the company.

  • Works closely with sales strategy, shopper, and revenue growth management support to scenario plan for maximum impact and efficiencies. Collaborates with the customer on these plans to drive mutually profitable sales.

  • Interprets information from the sales strategy team regarding category sales, brand sales, share growth and promotional efficiency. From this information the incumbent provides insights and recommendations on tactics used to drive sales on responsible brands.

  • Develops a deep understanding of retailers’ omni channel capabilities and ensures investments align with these customer capabilities.

  • Collaborates with our retail coverage teams to effectively facilitate retailers’ baseline business.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years sales / marketing / sales strategy experience

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply business analytics

  • Pattern of initiative

  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects

  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to take opportunities from conception to execution

  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

  • 3+ years sales / marketing / sales strategy experience

LOCATION: Pleasanton Sales Office (Pleasanton, CA)

TRAVEL: Up to 10% of the time

BENEFITS: Hormel Foods offers an excellent benefits package. Competitive base salary plus bonus, annual merit increases, company vehicle, performance reviews, medical, dental, vision, non-contributory pension, profit sharing, 401(k), stock purchase plan, paid vacation.

The base pay range is $93,000 to $128,000 per year; however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. This position is eligible for an additional 15% location premium.
