Job Description:

Modifies patient menus, receives patient food preferences and maintains various records in accordance with departmental objectives and policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in menu processing duties including admissions, discharges, transfers and diet order changes.

  2. Reviews all menus returning from patients.

  3. Modifies daily menu in accordance with the physician's written diet order, the approved NSLIJ Diet Manual, guidelines established by the Food and Nutrition service, the patient's expressed food habits, preferences and/or allergies, and/or the meal pattern individualized by the Registered Dietitian.

  4. Checks accuracy of patient's daily menu with diet order. Heads menus and modifies all menus to coincide to diet orders.

  5. Ensures menus are completely filled out by the patient marking menus. Obtains patients food preference, allergies and intolerances from either the patient or patient's family/significant other.

  6. Offers accepted alternate food selections to patients when requested.

  7. Inspects meal tray line as necessary.

  8. Participates in and conducts QM activities as assigned.

  9. Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associates Degree in Food and Nutrition, preferred.

  • 90 Hours or 120 Hours Dietary Manager Certificate, required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year dietetic technician experience in a hospital setting, required.

The salary range for this position is $26.89-$29.17/hour
