Koppers Inc. Utility Painter in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Reference #: REQ02295-1 Koppers Utility Services is seeking a skilled Utility Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying protective coatings to utility poles and pad-mounted equipment, ensuring long-lasting durability and appearance. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in various environmental conditions. Key Responsibilities:

Apply protective coatings to wooden utility poles and pad-mounted equipment.

Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and removing old paint or rust.

Use brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to apply paint or other coatings.

Ensure uniform coverage and proper thickness of paint applications.

Follow safety protocols to protect themselves, the environment, and surrounding areas.

Perform routine maintenance on painting equipment and tools.

Document work performed and maintain accurate records of materials used.

Coordinate with other team members to complete projects efficiently.

Inspect painted surfaces for quality and adherence to specifications. Qualifications:

Proven experience in industrial painting or a related trade.

Knowledge of various types of paints, coatings, and application techniques.

Familiarity with surface preparation methods and safety practices.

Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high-quality work.

Good physical stamina and coordination.

Solid driving record.

Ability to pass a background check and physical examination. Skills:

Proficiency with painting tools and equipment (e.g., brushes, rollers, spray guns).

Understanding of safety practices related to painting and hazardous materials.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting to supervisors.

Problem-solving skills to address challenges during painting projects. Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a solid driving record.

Ability to pass a thorough background check and physical examination.

Commitment to following safety protocols and industry standards.

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional training or certification in industrial painting is a plus.
