The Mt. Lebanon School District in Allegheny County is seeking applicants for the position of Special Education Classroom Aide.

This is a full-time, on-site, permanent, 10 month position (mid-August-early June) providing instructional support to students with special needs and providing operational and clerical support to the special education instruction team. This assignment is in an elementary Life Skills and Autistic Support (Applied Behavioral Analysis) classroom.

Duties include:

  • Engaging with students and staff
  • Performing instructional support tasks like supervision, tutoring, and coaching
  • Performing behavioral support tasks like communicating positive expectations, prompting/signaling, and redirecting
  • Performing clerical support tasks like organizing materials and recording progress and observations

Qualities needed:

  • Caring, compassionate, good judgment, and patience
  • Collaborative work ethic and positive attitude
  • Genuine interest in assisting students with special needs

QUALIFICATIONS In order to be eligible for these paraprofessional positions, the applicant must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Be a high school graduate or posses a GED, AND 1) Have completed at least two (2) years of postsecondary study, OR 2) Possess an associates degree or higher, OR 3) Complete a series of job-based trainings during the first year of employment, and continuing education credit hours during subsequent years.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS In order to be eligible for employment in Pennsylvania public schools, the following clearances, trainings, and forms are required by the Mt.
