WESCO Senior Accountant – Close & Consolidation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

As a Senior Accountant (Close & Consolidation) you will oversee various accounting functions as part of the Controllership team including the global close and consolidation process as well as associated legal entity analysis and reporting. This role will be involved in driving continuous improvement and implementing best practices across the organization. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with accounting professionals and serve as a transformational leader ensuring that the organization is following best in class digital solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and consolidated financial statements for accuracy and completeness and assist the accounting team with month-end close.

  • Prepare schedules and provide accounting data to support annual audit as well as other monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, statements, and filings for a variety of key company stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, tax, legal, and treasury to support tax initiatives, acquisitions, and business conversions.

  • Support multi-year accounting projects and initiatives by participating in global process design sessions and goal deployment.

  • Analyze accounts and review general ledger account reconciliations.

  • Researches and explains general ledger account variances to trend and prior year.

  • Interacts and supports internal and external auditors in completing audits.

  • Drive continuous process improvements which includes standardizing, automating and enhancing processes.

  • Ensure compliance with company corporate policies and procedures, GAAP, and SOX standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of accounting experience.

  • Public accounting experience is preferred (Big 4 or other national firm experience).

  • Licenses/Certificates/Designations - CPA qualified preferred

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, FCCS, or equivalent ERP system preferred.

  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements.

  • Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks.

  • Able to adapt to new responsibilities with an agile mindset.

  • Strong general business and project management skills.

  • Accounting theory, and application of principles and practices.

  • Strong computer skills: MS Office Suite (Excel).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to prepare, examine, and verify financial reports.

  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Able to research and analyze varieties of information.
