Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC), a comprehensive primary healthcare center established in 2006, is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our interdisciplinary primary care/mental health team. ​ SHHC provides high-quality care to everyone in our community, regardless of income level or insurance status, with a special concern for religious beliefs, ethnic and cultural background, language spoken, age, sex, and disability status. ​ Our services include primary and preventive medical care, mental and behavioral health services, MOUD, dental care, and case management. ​ As a Participating Provider with Pennsylvania’s Office of Refugee Resettlement, we complete initial health screenings for newly arriving refugees in Pittsburgh and provide ongoing integrated care. ​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, treat, and assist patients in overcoming mental health, social/emotional, and economic barriers. ​

  • Provide integrated mental and behavioral health services, including medication management and therapy sessions. ​

  • Collaborate with SHHC clinicians and behavioral health staff to ensure high-quality patient care. ​

  • Maintain accurate and prompt documentation in the Electronic Medical Record. ​

  • Supervise SHHC’s licensed clinical social worker and other behavioral health staff.

  • Provides supervision for advance practice psychiatric provider as necessary.

  • Participate in creating a smoothly functioning mental/behavioral health team. ​

  • Provide supervision and serve as a resource for SHHC management and staff. ​

    Essential Functions:

  • Elicit and record patient mental health history. ​

  • Assess and create appropriate treatment plans. ​

  • Prescribe and monitor medications. ​

  • Ensure patient confidentiality. ​

  • Make house and emergency calls as needed. ​

  • Be available to patients and clinicians by phone during non-scheduled hours. ​

  • Prepare and sign all necessary forms for patient care and billing in accordance with current policies. ​

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. ​

  • Completion of a 3-year residency program in psychiatry. ​

  • Board certification in psychiatry. ​

  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania or willingness to obtain. ​

  • Participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs or willingness to obtain. ​

  • Enrollment in required managed care and insurance contracts or willingness to obtain. ​

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, planning, and organizational skills. ​

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. ​

  • Computer proficiency.

  • BLS certification.

  • Knowledge of a second language preferred. ​

  • Dedication to ​ providing high-quality health care to all patients. ​

  • Willingness to receive and remain current with all CDC recommended vaccines.

    Work Environment:

  • Hybrid of telehealth and in-person visits, subject to change based on patient or SHHC needs.
