Description: Summary

The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to work on projects studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain injury. Candidates will be involved in study design, experimental conduct, data analysis, and preparation of manuscripts on the research projects they will be participating in.

Description of Responsibilities

The project involves a variety of scientific projects to investigate the functional role of Kruppel-like transcription factors in the regulation of brain protection in vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia by using state-of-the-art cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, morphology, imaging, neurobehavior, and transgenic animal approaches The successful candidate is expected to perform studies independently, publish scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, present at weekly lab meetings and at national and international scientific meetings.

 

Qualifications

Candidate must hold an MD or PhD in basic sciences.

The candidate should demonstrate an academic record of excellence, independent research, and a strong interest in basic and clinical medical research. Applicants with a background in Medicine, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology are encouraged to apply.
