Sojourner House Licensed Psychiatrist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Sojourner House is seeking an experienced PSYCHIATRIST to  provide quality psychiatric services for Sojourner House Treatment non-hospital substance use inpatient and Sojourner House MOMS Housing Programs. Duties include assisting a variety of clients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions; overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans including the prescription of appropriate psychotropic medications, monitoring and evaluating the treatment results.  The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with the clinical management, therapists, and facility-based Program Managers to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for those clients engaged in services. 

 

REQUIRES

  • M.D. or D.O. degree along with Board Certification in Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. Experience working with substance use and mental health populations. 

  • Must have and maintain a current Physician License and Controlled Substance License from the State of Pennsylvania.

  • Strong computer/technology skills and aptitude required

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Because of treatment philosophy, persons identified or who have been diagnosed with an alcohol or other drug dependence be abstinent for at least two (2) years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment.

  • Support organization’s mission with a sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.

  • Ability to secure Act 33 and 34 clearances/ Must obtain annual PPD test and first aid/CPR certification.

  • Valid PA driver’s license

     

    Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Provision of quality services and completion of duties in accordance with Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS values, DHS standards, COA standards, and all regulations.

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations

  • Develop treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.

  • Treat clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients and appropriate treatment staff; providing instructions and monitoring effects of medications.

  • Maintain interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, therapists' treatment and/or residential staff along with and other health care providers

  • Assure quality and safe service for clients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations when necessary.

  • Improve staff competence by providing educational insight and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.

  • Maintain historical records (electronic records) by promptly documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries.

  • Abide by all insurance and billing requirements.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional training programs.

  • Attend recommended trainings and team meeting.

     

SPECIAL CRITERIA:

  • Because of program treatment philosophy, persons identified with - or who have been diagnosed with - an alcohol or other drug dependence must be abstinent for at least two years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment. All candidates must be willing to adhere to the Substance Abuse/Drug Free Workplace policy including pre-employment screening.

  • Ability to acquire Act 33/34 & FBI clearances (employer reimbursed - after contingent job offer.)

  • Must obtain annual TB (PPD) testing (employer reimbursed - after hire.)

  • Must attend and participate in all required training (after hire.)

Salary Description

$150 - $204 Hourly
