The Lead Analyst, Data & Analytics is a position within the Corporate Strategy department at Duquesne Light Company (DLC). Corporate Strategy is an organization guided by the DLC Executive Team to identify compelling ideas within the organization that can be used to improve efficiencies and drive value within DLC.
The Lead Analyst will perform analysis to support DLC's on-going efforts to be a data-driven organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE), the Lead Analyst will be a pivotal team member in finding sustainable efficiency and savings opportunities born from rigorously and objectively analyzing enterprise data. The individual will also have responsibility for developing relationships and effective partnerships with all parts of the organization to drive the best enterprise-wide outcomes. The position will require a combination of proven experience and subject matter expertise in data and analytics.
Location: Hybrid (see below), downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Job Responsibilities:
Analytical Project Management
Independently run analytical projects with stakeholders throughout the organization
Create business briefs detailing project scope, goals, requirements, and assumptions
Design and maintain project plans outlining steps for collection, evaluation, refinement, and analysis of data
Perform data collection and preparation activities using tools like Databricks, Excel, SQL Server, SQL Developer, Snowflake, RStudio, and Anaconda
Select and apply appropriate data modeling techniques to address business questions
Present projects results and convey actionable insights to internal stakeholders, varying from individual contributors to executives
Document data decisions, processes and results
Analytics Center of Excellence Support
Identify opportunities to use analytics to support the company's strategic priorities.
Model data governance best practices.
Promote the expansion of data literacy throughout the business.
Support the advancement of data culture at DLH.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience required; Master's degree is a plus.
Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience, including aggregating and analyzing large scale data to create insights, is required.
Electric Utility industry experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:
Analytical acumen. Strong data-driven analytical skills with an ability to integrate data from multiple sources for developing actionable, value-add insights and solutions. Experience with SQL, R, Python, or another programming language required.
Statistical analysis. Demonstrated quantitative and statistical analysis skills - including multivariate regression and other advanced statistical analysis. Example: logistic regression, KNN clustering, time-series analysis, etc.
Business perspective. Knowledge at the intersection of financial, operational and customer domains to drive business value, as well as awareness of the regulatory environment
Communication skills. Ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders, interpret business challenges, and clearly communicate analyses in terms of business drivers.
Time Management. The ability to plan and effectively manage schedules, balance long-term projects with ad hoc requests, and adapt to changes in prioritization

Scope: Primary Focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow, and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature, requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance only in complex situations. Has well-established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.
Decision Impact: Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Storm Roles: All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Hybrid Work Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Data Governance: Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities, and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
