The Junior Technical Graphic Designer will be responsible for project production support for detailed technical reports, site plans, and architectural drawings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, a focus on efficiency and quality, and high level of collaboration in a fast-paced team environment. The position requires ability for both self-management and leadership. Individuals must be articulate (verbal, written), be an attentive listener, and be able to execute thoughtful graphic design solutions based on planning and engineering inputs. The principal responsibilities of the role are to render site plans and floorplans in Illustrator, format planning reports in InDesign, prepare PowerPoint briefs, and assist with proposal and marketing PowerPoint presentations and brochures. The position requires regular collaboration with project managers and technical experts.
Successful individuals will possess creative and innovative graphic design skills and artistic talent for print and multimedia presentations and be adept at applying user experience/usability concepts to design. Position requires multi-tasking daily, with the ability to self-manage tasks on multiple short and long-term projects. Individuals must be articulate, attentive listeners, comfortable with client relations, and able to think outside the boundaries of traditional design.

Your Impact
Provide industry-leading creative approaches to presentations, reports, and a variety of data and technically-driven graphics.
Work closely with project teams to execute all graphic elements of deliverables from long document layout in InDesign to individual graphic development for placement within documents.
Envision and create graphics that convey complex technical subjects in a compelling and easy to understand manner.
Accountable and responsible for meeting strict deadlines and following through on commitments with attention to detail.
Maintain knowledge of and proficiency with the latest technologies and trends in the graphic design environment. May require researching and employing new software technology and design/development techniques.
Work in a fast-paced, multiple deadline environment.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma.
Minimum of 3 year of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior graphic design experience.
Ability to travel a minimum of 10% of the time, including overnight trips and international travel.
Proficient Adobe Creative Suite Skills (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
Proficient Microsoft Word, PowerPoint skills.
Possess creative and innovative design skills and artistic talent and be adept at applying user usability concepts to design.
Proven understanding of graphic design fundamentals; strong command of color theory, image composition, and typography; demonstrated design creativity and ability to translate creative ideas and technical concepts to visual solutions.
Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept to launch; detail oriented, focused on efficiency and quality; and adept at collaboration in a fast-paced team environment.
Comfortable with daily multi-tasking and have the ability to self-manage tasks on multiple short and long-term projects.
Be an articulate, attentive listener, comfortable with client relations, and willing to be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
Attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work as a productive team member in a collaborative environment.
Adept at Teams or virtual/remote communication.
Focus on usability and user interaction.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Demonstrated ability with word processing and proof reading.
Experience with formatting documents and materials for printing.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or a closely related discipline is preferred.
A/E/C industry experience.
Document management including expertise in creative layout of large technical documents.
Experience with map, site plan, or floorplan layouts with scaling.
Ability to obtain a US-Government issued security clearance.
