KPMG is currently seeking an Associate/Senior Associate, R&D and Renewable Energy Tax Credits - Engineer to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.

Responsibilities: Develop and provide knowledge in federal tax credits including but not limited to, Credit for Increasing Research Activities (R&D) (Sections 41 and 174), Investment Tax Credits (ITC) (Sections 48 and 48E), Production Tax Credits (PTC) (Section 45 and 45Y), Advanced Manufacturing Investment Tax Credits (CHIPS) (Section 48D), Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit (Section 45X), the Carbon Oxide Sequestration Credit (Section 45Q), the Zero-emission Nuclear Power Production Credit (Section 45U), the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit (Section 45V), the Clean Fuel Production Credit (Section 45Z), and the other various credits and requirements as introduced or modified in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Assist with implementation of projects for the credits listed above by conducting technical interviews with subject matter experts; review technical documents such as specifications, proposals, procedures, and reports; calculate the credit Ability to translate oral testimony into written narrative support using clear and concise language and documenting the credits through technical memoranda, opinion letters, quantitative workpapers, and more

Additional responsibilities for Senior Associate: Establish project management frameworks, communication protocols, and data management systems for KPMG and client information; provide regular communication and project management oversight services during the full project life cycle Support new business development, while sustaining excellent client service by networking within the firm and building on existing relationships outside of the firm Supervise and aid in the development and training of employees; develop and mentor associates and interns

Qualifications: Minimum one year of recent experience in technical project management or product/process engineering development Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering or energy engineering preferred Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with experience performing industry and client research Experience performing tax research, calculating tax credits, reading case law, and familiarity with the Internal Revenue Code and associated Treasury Regulations Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in engaging senior technical management or engineers to gather requirements or assist with technical sales Ability to travel and work at client locations
