Assistant Director - Research Support Services

 

The Department of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Director, Research Support Services to work closely with the pre and post award teams to enhance the efficiencies of special services. This position will be expected to oversee and streamlines processes related to research administration including activations, effort reporting, data management, and other functions.

Job Summary

Manages purchasing, billing, grant and contract administration, invoices and expenses, grant budget proposals, vendor contracts, and pre- and post-award processing. Ensures compliance and assists with operational improvements. Acts as liaison to internal and external stakeholders, funding agencies, and auditors.

Essential Functions * Manages purchasing, billing, and grant administrative functions; tracks, reconciles, and approves invoices and expenses; monitors accounts and resolves complex accounting issues. Directs the preparation of grant budget proposals, justifications, and all necessary documentation. Oversees vendor contracts, negotiations, reconciliations, and renewals; research price and service comparisons to negotiate pricing and improve supply management. Supervises staff, which includes hiring, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration; manages work schedules and approves timecards; provides professional development opportunities; distributes and reviews work. Manages pre- and post- award processing and documentation; prepares complex reports, financial statements, and projections. Serves as liaison between internal and external stakeholders including funding agencies and auditors. Establishes, interprets, and ensures compliance with fiscal policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifies and implements changes to improve operations as well as accounting processes and procedures. Assists with special projects and new initiatives as needed. Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary.
