Carnegie Mellon University Assistant Director of Housing Operations, Access & General Operations - Division in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania

Carnegie Mellon University's department ofHousing Services is searching for an Assistant Director of Housing Operations - Access and General Operations. This is a dynamic opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willserve as an integral housing services team member and will be responsible for the management and oversight of several significant processes within the operations and assignments areas.

Core responsibilities will include:

Management of all annual operational processes, including Opening/Move-In, Winter Break, Move-Out, extensions, early arrivals, and summer operations

Oversight of all Front Reception/Desk Services initiatives, including front reception for Housing Services and Desk Services Assistants for after-hours residential support

Management of all Housing Services access systems and services, including oversight of the CBORD system, electronic locks and keys, and hard keys; conducts trainings related to access, and ensures security of housing buildings through access; coordinates with the University Lockshop and CS-Gold team to troubleshoot and resolve all access-related issues

Direct supervision of two full-time professional staff members, and up to 25 student employees

Oversight of all hiring, on-boarding, and WorkDay processes for all Housing Services student workers, including approving time and payroll

Assist with all Housing Services hiring/recruiting processes for internal staff members

Oversight of Summer Housing and Winter Break assignments processes in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Assignments, and assignments assistance during other key assignments processes including Room Selection, First-Year Assignments, Fraternity & Sorority Assignments, etc.

Oversight and management of Admissions-sponsored events, marketing, messaging, and website initiatives, and general oversight of the Housing Services Makerspaces, including associated purchasing

Oversight of graduate student housing initiatives

Oversight of third-party vendor contracts including the off-campus housing website, student summer storage vendor, and MicroFridge

Liaison with Conference and Events Services related to summer housing, operational timelines, move-out, move-in, etc.

Some project management responsibilities to support departmental initiatives

This role will require on-call duties related to the access issues, and some evening and weekend support during peak times of the year (summer housing, Fall move-in, Room Selection, etc.)

Other duties as assigned

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required; Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or other related field preferred

3 to 5 years of relevant work experience preferably within a higher education or housing operations setting; experience with supervision, access control, assignments, events and conferences, etc.

A combination of ducation and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate multiple administrative processes, and ability to work with a wide variety of customers
