GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Administrative Director of Cancer Clinical Research is responsible for ensuring that the Allegheny Health Network has an appropriate and well managed infrastructure for offering clinical research programs to its patients and practicing physicians.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly oversees clinical research operations of the cancer institute and develops the curriculum and training for all clinical research staff including research nurses, clinical research coordinators, as well as supporting data and regulatory staff. (30%)
Works with AHN's oncology leadership and physicians to identify and attract research studies that are well suited to and meet the needs of the patients that the organization serves and supports. (20%)
Motivates research staff to educate patients about available research studies and offer access to studies while ensuring compliance with all AHN policies and state and federal regulations. (15%)
Manages the clinical research staff and programs of the cancer institute in compliance with all regulatory requirements and in line with the best interests of AHN patients. (10%)
Participates in the development and management of annual budgets that ensure availability of appropriate resources to support AHN's cancer patient access to innovative clinical research studies throughout the network. (10%)
Organizes the operational structure of the cancer institute research staff to efficiently deploy staff and resources where and when they are needed and works with AHN's research administration to revise and optimize policies, procedures and protocols for rapidly and efficiently opening and closing research studies. (10%)
Assists in coordinating active research partnership programs with external collaborators, adding diversity to the research opportunities available to AHN's patients. (10)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
7 years of managing aspects of a medical research operation
3 years of Leadership/managerial experience
2 years in the management of complex clinical research studies, and multi-million dollar research budgets
Registered Nurse - PA License
Preferred
Doctorate in Science, Engineering, Business, or Medical field
Managing an oncology research operation consisting of middle management, and research coordinators across multiple disease sites
